Updates from Haiti: February 2017

The Women of the Artisanat

Women are working hard to create reusable sanitary pads for their community in Fond des Blancs, Haiti

Marthe, the head seamstress at the Artisanat, is counting the completed pads so she can keep track of how much to pay each of the sewers who get paid by the piece. The pad project has helped to get the sewers consistent work.

Mirlande, one of the assistants, is putting our partner's Haiti Projects stamp on the protective pouch that holds a set of 6 pads. The women take this pouch very seriously as they know they need to keep the pads free of the dust, which is everywhere in Fond des Blancs.

Ms Berrette is posing with the group of girls in the local soccer program from the community of Frenchipagne. She just finished distributing the pads after completing the menstrual health education session.
